Why we exist

Every year, roughly one in four adults age 65 and older has a fall. Many of those falls happen at home, in the bathroom or on the stairs, and many could be prevented by something as simple as a well-placed grab bar. Yet most homes do not have them — and finding a trustworthy installer who will anchor a bar properly is harder than it should be.

SafeStep Homes was built to fix that. We make it easy to find a vetted, insured local installer who treats grab bar installation as what it is: a safety job, not an afterthought.

How we vet installers

We refer background-checked, insured installers. Many in our network hold the Certified Aging-in-Place Specialist (CAPS) credential, which means they are specifically trained in home modifications for safety and accessibility. Every installer is expected to anchor grab bars into wall studs or solid blocking so each bar holds an adult's full weight.
